Kiev with sweet potato mash by @skaniai_sveikai

Mashed potatoes are always a good idea alongside Kiev cutlets. Here, food blogger and mom Aušra (IG @skaniai_sveikai) suggests how to make a healthier version of this favorite side dish using sweet potatoes, or yams.

  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Sour Cream
  • Butter
  • Parsley
  • Salt
  • Black Pepper
  • Garlic

Step 1:

  • Peel the sweet potatoes, cut them into small cubes and boil them in water until soft, about 12 minutes.

Step 2:

  • Drain the water, put them back on the stove and let the water evaporate. Mash the potatoes, add a spoonful of sour cream, a little butter, chopped parsley, garlic, a pinch of salt and pepper.

Step 3:

  • Mix everything and serve hot, along with the Food Stories Kyiv cutlets that have warmed up in the oven while the porridge is cooking. Delicious!
