“Žemaičiai” pancakes with mushroom sauce

Despite the strange Mardi Gras and the sad beginning of spring this year, life goes on and we must not give in to the gloom and enjoy this day and the good things we have as much as possible. So Mardi Gras should be celebrated even today while eating pancakes. And if you still don’t feel like cooking, Food Stories can offer you already baked traditional “Žemaičiai” pancakes, with which we recommend making this quick mushroom sauce.

  • 2 packages of Done Cookin “Žemaičiai” pancakes
  • 200 g fresh mushrooms
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 150 g sour cream
  • 150 ml milk
  • a little butter for frying
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Step 1:

  • Remove the pancakes from the packages and heat in the oven according to the instructions on the package.

Step 2:

  • While the pancakes are heating, prepare the sauce. First, finely chop the onion and garlic and fry them in a pan with butter.

Step 3:

  • After the onions are fried, add the chopped mushrooms and fry everything for a few more minutes.

Step 4:

  • Add a spoonful of flour, sour cream and milk to the pan and heat everything while stirring until the sauce thickens.

Step 5:

  • Finally, season the sauce with salt and pepper.

Step 6:

  • Gourmetly coat the warmed “Žemaičiai” pancakes with the sauce and serve them to your family and yourself on the table.
